Some new and old faces will making their way into Lady Death's story for Apocalyptic Abyss. Here's a taste of what's to come:

HELLWITCH: Her last encounter with Lady Death left Hellwitch face down in vat of toxic waste. Now, with amped up powers and a murderous army of cut-throat rebels at her side, the Hellbourne sorceress wants payback. Already, she has usurped the Elder power elite and hounded Lady Death to the very edge of Hell. What else is Hellwitch willing to do to satisfy her hunger for vengeance?

GUNNAR / CHAOTICA: One is a rogue warlock, hunted by the ruthless HALO corporation. The other is a spell-wielding vigilante, protecting innocents from supernatural predators. Both possess power beyond their own comprehension. And both harbor a secret that will leave the LADY DEATH UNIVERSE forever changed.

MARION: Having searched the bowels of Hell for centuries, Lady Death has risked everything to finally reunite with her loving mother, Marion. But happy reunions in Hell are short-lived and every lost soul in the netherworld holds mysteries perhaps better left unsolved.

HELLBOURNE ELDERS: “HELL for the HELLBOURNE!” For too long fallen angels and damned humans have plagued the true denizens of Hell. Now it’s time to PURGE! Under the leadership of the fanatical ELDERS, the Hellbourne seek to restore order by ridding their sacred home of the impure, by any means necessary. And the top of their hit list is a certain rebellious white witch.

Jimmy Calabrese of Coffin Comics sat down with Lady Death writer/creator Brian Pulido about the upcoming graphic novel, LADY DEATH: APOCALYPTIC ABYSS #1 premiering on KICKSTARTER on February 7, 2018 at 7:00PM Arizona Time.

JIMMY CALABRESE: Love that title Apocalyptic Abyss! It sounds so METAL! Where do you come up with these great titles?

BRIAN PULIDO: Haha! I spend as much time on the titles as doing the entire story, but I can’t take all the credit. Mike MacLean has come up with some rather cool ones too ( Damnation Game, Oblivion Kiss)! Mainly, I ponder the story’s theme. At the same time I actually have a list of powerful words standing by that I would like to use. Then I go looking at the names of heavy metal songs and lyrics and see how I can mix it all up!

JC: Tell us more about The Hellraiders? The first time we heard that term was during the last Lady Death Kickstarter as the title of the comic book that Coffin Comics gave away as a stretch goal! Who came up with that name?

BP: Francisca Pulido coined the term Hellraiders. It captures the spirit of the characters and their goal: to raid Hell & bring Lady Death back to earth! Why Lady Death? You will have to read to find out!

JC: Apocalyptic Abysss sounds like it’s going to be the most violent story yet! Should we worry about some of our favorite characters making it out alive?

BP: You should.

JC: The fans love that you are back at the helm co-writing Lady Death. They love the art and the solid storytelling. How does that fuel you when you are writing Lady Death? (Apocalypse Abyss Homage Edition) BP: It certainly bolsters my confidence. To know that I am connecting with the readers, fiends and collectors really fires me up.

JC: Is there any truth to the rumor that the character Gunnar is based off the new Judas Priest guitarist?

BP: If you take a look at pics, you can see a similarity.

JC: It seems like everything has been leading up to this story! Lady Death while surrounded by Hellwitch and her army, in the last panel of Unholy Ruin, state that they will make a "final stand". How important is this story to the Lady Death story’s arc?

BP: It is critical to her current time in Hell. It is the culmination of all of it. The Jake storyline, the Elders storyline, the Hellwitch storyline, The Jester storyline, the Marion storyline, The Hellraiders storyline – they all come to a head here. This is the one! No joke!

JC: Wow. So, what comes after “Apocalyptic Abyss #1?

BP: This August 2018, we unveil the Lady Death: Nightmare Symphony #1 Kickstarter campaign. That is all I will say for now.

Jimmy Calabrese of Coffin Comics sat down with Lady Death co-writer Mike MacLean about the upcoming LADY DEATH: APOCALYPTIC ABYSS #1 premiering on KICKSTARTER on February 7, 2018 at 7:00PM Arizona Time.

JIMMY CALABRESE: Hey Mike, the story for Apocalyptic Abyss sounds like it’s going to be the most violent yet! Should we worry about some of our favorite characters making it out alive?

MIKE MACLEAN: When a city full of demons tries to rip you apart, there's bound to be a bit of the ultra-violence. Apocalyptic Abyss will feature blades, bullets, and blood aplenty. And no one is safe!

JC: What do you use as inspiration when you are writing Lady Death? Do you have any favorite music that give you inspiration?

MM: For really intense Lady Death scenes I like to blast an old reliable...Neil Diamond! Just screwing with you. Coffin is the home to ROCK AND ROLL COMICS, so of course I go with the hard stuff. Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, and Rob Zombie work well -- they all have a driving industrial beat that allows me to zone out.

JC: Ha, awesome! It seems like everything has been leading up to this story!

MM: We all have copies of the X-Men or Justice League where nothing much happens, and the story feels like a transition to a bigger plot line. That's NOT Lady Death. Every Lady Death story has consequences, and Apocalyptic Abyss is no exception. Our Diva of Destruction is geared up for an epic showdown with the insidious Hellbourne Elders. And neither Hell nor Lady Death will ever be the same.

JC: The Hellcity of Dis, what can you reveal about that?

MM: Transport New York City to Hell and fill it full of backstabbing, slave-trading demons and you have an idea what Dis is like.

JC: After the Kickstarters launches how often do you check the progress?

MM: Way too often. During that first 24 hours, I'm a compulsive mess. I'm always awed and honored by the generosity and passion of the fiends.

JC: I hear there's a lot of action in this story. How do you approach writing action scenes compared to dialogue scenes?

MM: I shotgun a Monster, crank up the volume on my headphones, and punch the keys!
